As you mentioned, it is a good idea to board up all window coverings before you leave, if you have to evacuate. Do hurricane shutters stay connected to the home at all times, and then you just secure them over the window when needed? Or do you have to place them on the house every time you need them?

Good question, Shaylee! Hurricane shutters can be both permanent or temporary fixtures. You can set and forget some hurricane shutters while others need to be put up and taken down every hurricane season. It all depends on the type of hurricane shutters you have.
