Custom Manufacturing & Engineering™ (CME™) an innovative company providing defense and electronics manufacturing and engineering
development, has joined the Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA). CME produces rugged sensor
networks and electrical power equipment for military and industrial applications. SEA is a
nonprofit alliance formed by aerospace, defense, and space companies with a goal to implement a
single lean enterprise system throughout the U.S. supply chain to make it globally competitive.
CME is one of the first suppliers in Florida to join the initiative and engage in SEA’s lean
enterprise conversion process. SEA’s lean enterprise focuses on leadership and culture, workforce
development and operational excellence. CME joins prime member companies like The Boeing
Company, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Company, Rockwell Collins and Bombardier –
just to name a few.
According to Dr. Nancy Crews, president and founder of CME, “We are committed to applying
SEA’s integrated approach deploying lean principles throughout our progressive enterprise.
CME’s goal is to become a high-value supply chain member in support of our growth as a
business to business supplier.” As part of CME’s membership, SEA will facilitate lean process
development and kaizens, guide improved strategic planning, employee development, and
evaluate CME’s current lean initiatives making recommendations for improvements, if necessary.
